Transformers cut this down to a useful level. The transformer in that speaker cuts the signal sent by a special 70 volt public address amplifier to a level that the speaker can use. This public address speaker is not designed to be used with a home stereo system since these only send watts to the speaker.

I have a JBL Control 28T speaker, what is for the transformer inside (please answer in simple terms, not tech)
