Air Traffic Control Tech School?

I was wondering how long the Air Traffic Control Tech School would be at Keesler, AFB in Mississippi? Also, whether or not I would have any control over where I would be stationed after completing Tech School?Air Traffic Control Tech School?
Plan to be at Keesler for around four months--you may have a bit of down time waiting for classes to be put together, but that rarely takes more than a few days.

First part of school is Fundamentals: classroom environment hitting the books and listening to lectures. They'll cover the basic concepts and terms you'll need to start learning to work.

After you pass through Fundys, you'll be assigned to either Radar or Tower, and go through the sim labs. This is where you'll start to actually start working. New instructors will teach you new tasks daily, and evaluate you on how you perform those tasks.

Study, but don't over-study. Get plenty of sleep. Try to stay out of the casinos.

You do have some input as to where you go--filling out your dream sheet at BMT. Keep in mind that not all bases accept 3 levels when filling it out. Once you get your assignment, you'll have a chance to trade with someone if you want--provided they graduate within two weeks (i believe) of your class. If you get Distinguished Grad (number one in your class), you'll have your pick of bases.

Upgrade training is a long process, but working by yourself is a blast. The job is totally worth it.

Good luck.

Nine months??? A YEAR!?!? These people have no clue what they are talking about--maybe they are referring to people who did upgrade training at Keesler....?Air Traffic Control Tech School?
I know people that were at Keesler over a year at tech school for ATC. Its about 4 months if you get a class date as soon as you get there and dont get washed back for reclassed. The tech school is very difficult I personally know about 6 people that were reclassed into other jobs.

You will fill out a dream sheet in basic saying where you want to go, it basically means nothing and the air force will station you where ever they need you.

Edit: It is only about 70 training days long, however.... due to the lack of instrustors and the cap on class size you will have to wait anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months for class to begin. After you have finished the acedemics then you will move on to SIMS which you will have to wait for another class date to start. This, in addition to the people that are washed back into a class behind them is why people are there for 6 even 9 months sometimes.
ATC Tech School is 72 days long or 15 weeks .

Course #: E3ABR1C131 000

You can list your Base choices on your '; Dream Sheet ';

But in reality, you are gong to go where the Air Force needs new 3 levels ATC's.

NOTE: I have no idea where these people are getting 9 months to a year for the school, its 72 training days long.
Hey Matt,

It's about 9 months. Thing about ATC is you can fail out on the final test. It is really tough, We had reclasses coming in all the time,

Best of luck, you must be very smart
